# BasisScout

> A wash-sale check as an API: send your own trades, ask whether buying or selling a ticker on a date would wash a loss under the US rule (IRC section 1091), and get the answer across taxable, IRA and spouse accounts together: disallowed loss, adjusted basis, safe rebuy date, realized gains by year. A rule calculation on the trades sent, not tax advice.

- Free tier: POST /a2a (A2A JSON-RPC SendMessage) answers one pre-trade question in a sentence without payment, up to 60 requests a minute; /preview shows the parameters and pricing.
- Paid: GET /basis costs $0.01 per check over x402 (HTTP 402), USDC on Base, Arbitrum, Polygon or Solana, or XRP / RLUSD on the XRP Ledger (/.well-known/x402 lists the rails on offer right now). No account, no API key. Returns the whole ledger as JSON.
- Invalid parameters get a 400 before any charge; a refused payment is never charged.
- Privacy: the trades sent are processed in memory for the response and are not stored or logged. The edge log drops the trades parameter.
- Scope: US federal rule, same-ticker matching only; options, short sales, splits, "substantially identical" pairs and digital assets are not modelled. Not tax advice; confirm with a tax professional. Not affiliated with the IRS or any broker.
